This Javanese design represents Wayang Kulit. Wayang kulit is a Javanese traditional puppet theather, but the puppets are not 3-dimentional figures. They are 2-dimentional figures made from cow skins. One man called Dalang plays all the puppets behind the screen, and with the help of fire flaming behind him, people watch the shadow of the puppets in the front the screen. Most of the stories through this theather carry philosophical lessons, and each puppet has charasterical personalities in life.

This painting has cracked-lines motive, and the artist painted the design in detail, so as in real puppets. The special touch of this painting is the golden lines who made it sparkling.
