Ya, ya. After having been frozen for a couple of months, I finally change the header of Eflair web for the sake of….myself! And the logo as well. Self-created. I like simple and classical designs, so white is still my choice for the whole background. But adding some colors won’t be bad to create a different tone. For some reasons I always had the feeling of emptiness everytime I opened my own web. I hope this change gives me a new energy and fill the emptiness.

I took a part in one of Intercultural weeks in my town. The title above was the topic I chose for my speaking. Though I have prepared a draft to present, it turned out to be an open discussion, just ten miniutes after I started. I didn’t mind at all, cause I felt a bit nervous if the programme went on one-way communication. We talked about labor welfare, maternity leave rights, salary, general rights, education for girls, carreer, women production and reproduction functions, and public vs domestic issues. I have prepared some pictures to show, and luckily I have these trilogy Batik painting. These paintings are the reflection of social values Indonesian men and women have to fulfill in a family. One painting shows a man with a fish on his head and a chicken, symbolizing him as the breadwinner. The second painting shows two women with a fish on their head. It symbolizes the role of women in feeding their family. The last painting portrays an ideal family in balance: financially secure, having enough to eat, a good life, stability. There is a woman on this painting. It means, it the woman’s responsible to keep the needs and the fullfillments for her family in balance. All these paintings are the works of Andre, a painter from Jogjakarta.
We ended the nice evening with Indonesian foods I served. Too bad, none of us in the room had a brillian idea to take pictures. Not even one single picture!

There are people who can easily feel beautiful. So easy, that you become tired of hearing their overdose self-compliments. But there are also people who are difficult to feel that way. No, not because they never feel to be beautiful enough, but they don’t even dare to feel it. The kind of people who need constant persuasions from others that they are and they can be beautiful.
Last week I brought my earring collection to the class (I am taking a six-months-course in a Learning Center here). My classmates and the teacher were interrested, and it was like a short fashion course, cause we didn’t just give comments on each other’s look with different earrings, but also recommending clothes, new look, and all. And we successfully made someone feel more beautiful and comfortable with the new look she never dared to try before.
It was a good feeling to see her that way. It was really a good feeling to know that your creation can change someone’s self of confidence, even just in a small part.

“Never tried then never known,” so a wise man said.
I have been curios with flea markets since a long time; markets where people can get used but still in good condition things, or new things in low price. Why flee market?
I started my business with a small capital. I was a single finghter in a home-based office (and I am still now). I have been doing everything almost all by myself, plus occasional help from hubby and my little entertainer. As a newbie in jewelry business, I did neither have a store nor someone’s store where I could display my items without monitor. And there was a Saturday flee market offering a good opportunity.

The first post in the year 2008. Chaostic weeks welcoming Christmas were over, and while we still see discounted Christmast items on the shores, their racks have started to display Valentine and Eastern items. Geez, we are really on the quick path of time, aren’t we?
I am still waiting for the materials for my projects this year. Hopefully it comes soon since it has been delayed for 2 weeks already.
Happy new year 2008, everybody! Let us make it a better year with better achievement!

I was away awhile, but now I am back. Geez, the end of November and the whole December are really busy weeks. Is it just me, or time really flies? People often said that time passes so quickly when we have a great time. But I think time does fly no matter we have great time or not. Just when we are in the middle of week, the week end is suddenly there. And when we still enjoy it, it is Monday already. And bang! It’s Tuesday! Once we ‘reach’ Tuesday, the following days come so quickly. So and so repeatedly.
And now look around. When did the last time you change the curtains between the rooms? When did the last time you change the table clothes on your night consoles? And did your sofa look boring with the same pillow sheets, eventhough you often change them with all pillow sheets you have? Then it’s time to give them presents, and you give presents for yourselves, too. Plus for your guests. Here is the link to our complete collection http://www.renedrews.de/ef/pillowsheets.html. You surely find what you like there.

October has reached its end, and so has the summer. And those wonderful sights come again; leaves turn to red, yellow, and brown. Blue skies above, though cloudy days greet us more often here. It is time to take our thick jacket out of the lower piles in the cupboard. And what accesoires to wear?
Just like yellowish leaves in November, yellow Topaz, Citrine, Pearl, Cat’s eye and Beryl are the stones for November. For those of you who were born in that month, these stones are for you. And as red and brown leaves still hang on the branches, how about considering these power stones of November: Power Stones : Topaz, Garnet, Coral, Ruby, Zircon, Almandine, Malachite, Moonstone, Opal, Peridot, Turquoise.

Summer is over. It is time to dig out the bulbs and save them for the summer next year. But hey, the flowers are still beautiful enough to look at and to keep. Ok, let’s hang them upside down and let them dry. Few weeks from now we will have dried flowers as lovely decorations.
Talking about dried flowers, Eflair has something to offer: a miniatur terasse made from dried flowers, wooden beads and zink. All are packed inside a wooden box covered with glass. Look at the detail here.
So, don’t wait too long. Keep the summer ambience alive, be it eternity inside your house.

Two sisters in two continents, Wenny in Indonesia and Durin in Germany. The first was tired with nine to five job in an office, and the later was searching a paid activity that could be done at home. Both have something in common: getting tired with working for someone and spent all day long in someone’s office. Since art was one of their interests in life, they talked about selling arts from their origin. During the preparation in 2003, an unpredictable surprise happened; a cute fetus was growing in the womb of one of them; the one in Europe. But the first shipment was on the way already. Though the process of running business continued during the pregnancy, it was the year of 2005 when the business really moved.
